V Day

V Day began in Minas Gerais in 2001, led by the local Industry Federation. Since 2004, it has been extended to all other Brazilian states in which Vale is present. It is a day for volunteer actions, always during the first Sunday in December, bringing together Vale Volunteers, their relatives, friends, neighbors, and other interested parties. Together they develop hundreds of actions such as planting trees, painting, and remodeling schools, health care, cultural activities, leisure, and sports.

In 2004, 39 thousand people in 40 cities were involved in projects led by the Vale Volunteers. In 2007, with the participation of Mozambique, V Day was present in Africa for the first time with actions in two cities: Maputo and Tete. Since the beginning, a concern of the Vale Volunteers Committees has been to develop actions that can later be extended for the entire year.
