Vale Volunteers Network
The Vale Volunteers Program has structured itself in local Volunteering Networks, bringing together Vale employees (and of various partners) that already developed volunteer actions in their cities. Action Groups, involved in various projects and causes, along with individual volunteers, are part of the networks. Each is coordinated by a Committee responsible for strategically thinking and organizing the volunteers in a city (or region).
Our volunteers develop work with social institutions (day-care centers, homes for the elderly, hospitals), blood drives, actions in education (setting up libraries, working in schools), support projects for children and adolescents, aiding victims of natural disasters (especially floods), environmental conservation campaigns, give professional training courses, amongst many other activities.
The Networks and the Vale Volunteers Portal
Along with local networks, the Vale Volunteers Network was initially national and then became international. It is a system that connects local Networks, Action Groups, and individual volunteers. Through this Network they can communicate, exchange experiences, receive news, reference material, and long distance consultancy. In October 2005, with over 10 thousand people connected to the Network, the Vale Volunteers Portal was born, to improve the connectivity of all volunteers.
